Turbo or SC? I really like having oil pressure inside the car. The factory guage is a "On, or None" deal. When I first lost a brass "T" that I used to run my electric gauge, I was blowing oil everywhere and I could see that something was wrong becaue the oil pressure was way down. The factory light never came on but I noticed before it was too later because I had it right in front of me.

When I put an oil cooler on, I will also put on an oil pressure gauge. I don't worry about the bone stock oil system now , but after I play with it, I will.
Note that the part on Mr Roger's oil system that broke was a non stock fitting. His brings to three the number of people in my immediate circle that have had this happen. Always aftermarket add-ons.
That's why I'll be more interested in monitoring the oil system AFTER I "improve" it.

An oil cooler will make extended beatings on the engine safer. That's all. It won't fix any detonation problems.

Def. non-stock fitting it was, plus it was brass. Brass is a big no-no when hot oil and vibration comes into play. I didn't find out what the real problem was til it was too late and no one was able to tell me either. Now I have the fix, a stainless steel street "T" rethreaded to BSPT and not the non-stock NPT fitting that can be found at any parts store. If ANYONE ever needs a fitting rethreaded to 1/8 BSPT I can do it for the cost of the fitting and USPS shipping costs of $3.25 I just figure that I bought the rethreading die so I might as well help as many people as I can.

EGT=exhaust gas temperature. It is similar to air/fuel except it is more accurate since it is not reading off the o2 sensor which is not the most accurate method of monitoring fuel delivery. High EGT readings indicate a lean condition.
